Is hypnotherapy guaranteed to help overcome such phobias as fear of water, dentists etc?

I’ve long had an almost paralysing fear of water, though I still desperately want to learn how to swim. After paying for lessons on countless occasions I’ve always backed out at the last minute – being physically unable to even get in the pool. What is the success rate of hypnotherapy in such cases?

Gaurantee? Wow that’s a huge promise to make. What I can guarantee is that therapy in hypnosis does help with fears and phobias. The level of success very much depends on the individual client and their commitment to the process. Success is a very personal thing; one persons success could be walking at the water’s edge while another person may want nothing less than to be able to jump off a boat into the Indian Ocean. What I would suggest is that anyone can achieve a level of comfort around water that is appropriate to them as an individual. The important thing is to set a goal that is reasonable for you.

As for the fear of dentists; I have helped many clients by teaching them self hypnosis, detachment, anaesthesia and relaxation techniques. However, let’s be realistic, I haven’t met anyone yet who looks forward to a root canal!
